The results of yesterday's U11 Netball match against Jaffrey Academy

School
Photographs
The photographers were in for three days this week and, for the
first time, took team photographs. It was also the first time that
some had to be taken indoors because of the rain. The photographs
should be here by the end of next week and there is a sample of
the "Standard Pack" in the office and an order form will
accompany the proofs parents will receive.
Sponsored
Read
Last Friday we handed Mrs. Boulton a cheque for the money raised
by the sponsored read for ACTS. It was for KES.55,870. Thank you
to everyone for collecting so much which will go a long way to help
children in need of books and equipment in their schools. There
are 6 winners for collecting the most: 1st Olivia Cowan (4,200),
2nd Farha and Tawhida Omar (3,800 each) and 3rd Kevin Rogers, Jerry
Mulonzia and David Nesbitt (3,000 each). They received book tokens
in assembly this morning.
Swimming
Galas
The CASA Swimming Gala scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled
and all parents of the children concerned were informed by Mr. Farid.
Sorry for the disappointment but it was beyond our control.
The Bio Foods National Junior Championships Gala at Aga Khan, Nairobi,
next weekend is still on. The team will travel up by road on Thursday
(17th May) leaving the school at 8.00 am and will be returning to
BMIS on Monday (21st May) at 6.00 pm. If your child is going, he/she
must return the permission slip by Monday (14th May) at the latest.
Assemblies
Thank you Ms. Andrews and Y4 for your lovely assembly. Because of
the Swimming Gala in Nairobi next weekend, Y3 will not be able to
do their assembly as so many are involved in the Gala. They will,
therefore, hold their assembly on Wednesday 23rd May at 11.30 am
usual time.
Scouts
Field Trip
There were no class trips this week but the scouts went to Shimba
Hills on Saturday and we have the following reports:
On
Saturday 5th May the scouts went to Shimba Hills. The purpose of
the trip was to practise some of the scouting skills they had learned
so far on a hike.
We had a drive through the reserve and sighted quite a few animals
including the famous sable antelope. Many thanks to Saidi who showed
his expertise maneuvering the bus around the curves and up and down
the hills of Shimba. No wonder the place is called Shimba Hills!
The scouts were impressive with their outdoor skills and did the
challenging climb without complaint.
Miss Chege
We
left Mombasa town at 6.45 am and were at Shimba by 8.15 am. During
the game drive we managed to see an elephant, a herd of buffalo,
the famous sable antelope, warthogs, colobus monkeys, a snake, baboons
and ground squirrels.
As for the hike, going downhill was so much fun but going up was
very difficult and challenging. We saw the falls, swam and had a
mud fight. We then went back to the Shimba Lodge for lunch and this
was a house built on trees!
Tony Neugebauer
I was
nervous the whole morning but once we started off and I saw my friends,
it was perfect. I was ready for our adventurous journey.
Yvonne Bachmann
We
took and armed guide on our 4 km walk to and from Sheldrick falls.
We had fun when we went swimming in the waterfall. We had a sand
fight and everyone was full of sand. It was hard to climb back and
It was my best trip! Many thanks to Ms. Chege, Mr. Gicheru, Mr.
Farid and our guide, Mr. Omar.

Have
a good weekend.
