PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER, VOL. 1 No. 2, 19th January 2007

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The first Students of the Week were chosen this week and they will be mentioned in next week's newsletter.

Parents' Evening letters and appointment forms have been issued to the children today. Please complete the appointment forms and return them to Class Teachers on Monday. We look forward to seeing you all on Friday 26th January from 3.00 to 5.30 pm.

The much publicised Mwenge Soccer School begins here tomorrow at 9.30 am and is open to anyone from the age of 7 upwards. I know that there will be many of our children attending.

There are several hockey fixtures next week. The U11 girls play Aga Khan at home on Monday. The U11 boys play Shree at home on Tuesday and Aga Khan away on Thursday.

The Coast Open and Relay Swimming Championships organised by CASA take place next weekend (Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th January) at the Oshwal Community Sports Complex. A large number of Primary children are involved and we wish them every success. The sessions are from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Mr. Farid's extra swimming coaching for the school team swimmers starts on Monday from 4.00 to 5.00 pm. If your child was involved last term, he/she will be welcome again this term (Monday - Thursday). I am very grateful to him for organising this extra activity after an already very long day. Parents must arrange for their children to be collected at 5.00 pm and must inform the office if their children would normally use the 4.00 pm bus.

A Primary Sports notice board has been put on the outside Kitchen wall near the drinking tap where parents and children can see who is involved in fixtures and events, also when and where. I hope this will be helpful as it is close to the car park, the banda and the buses.

Year 4 enjoyed their trip to Jumba Ruins on Wednesday this week and Year 2 will be going to study rock pools in that area next Wednesday as part of their topic on the seaside.

I mentioned the learning of tables in the last newsletter and Mrs. Dale is putting together a guide for parents to help their children at home. This will be given to parents on Friday evening.

A final reminder that Friday is the closing day for us to receive entries for the ABRSM exams. Mr. Gannaway has given letters to most of the parents concerned but, in case you have not received one, candidates can be entered during Parents' Evening.

Have a good weekend.

Yours sincerely

Allen Corbet
Head of Primary
