SECONDARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER, VOL. 1 No. 7, 27th October 2006

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Firstly I would like to wish our Braeburn family a very happy Diwali and Idd ul Fitr.

Yesterday we held our non-uniform day. The students raised 6003 KSh and coupled with a staff donation of 3500 KSh, gives us a grand total of 9503 KSh which will be given to Kwale Eye Centre.

Mr Kirby hosted the inter-house quiz on the Friday before half term. The following report is compiled by him.
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to host the end of half term secondary inter-house quiz on Friday 13th October. May I thank Mr. Daniels, Mrs Gicheru, Mrs. Jennings and Mr. Gannon who made the effort to supply me some questions. The 'Guess the teacher' round caused much amusement; Mr Hill and Mrs McGovern were easily detectable but students had some difficulty recognising that the cute little boy clutching the teddy bear was in fact Mr. Corbet! The contest was won by Chui, but I feel the real winner in this instance was the audience itself. Their enthusiasm and active participation was a joy and they were a credit to our school. On a personal note, I very much enjoyed the experience of acting as quizmaster and it certainly left me more exhausted than any of my French lessons!

Mr. Gannaway has taken an extended leave of absence on medical grounds. He is currently in India for treatment. We wish him well and look forward to his return next term. Messages can be sent to Mr. Gannaway through the school. Consequently, Mr Jeremiah Ndune and Mr Corbet will be teaching the music lessons this term.

A big thank you to all the parents who have signed up to receive this newsletter by email. If you would also like to receive this newsletter by email, thereby conserving paper and helping our school to become more environmentally friendly; please send an email request to mis@africaonline.co.ke
