Dear
Parents and Guardians,
The Students of the Week ending 1st December 2006
were: Joy Mugo (Play Group), Anna Maina (Nursery), Alex Garath (Reception),
Tamara Casanova (Y1), Alice Mikuhi (Y2), Oceane Cellier (Y3), Alex
Canobbio (Y4), Zahur Baekholm (Y5) and Sangita Sharma (Y6). Well
done everyone!
Last
Friday Y4 had a very memorable and enjoyable day organised by Ms.
Andrews. They visited the Turtle Watch Information Centre in Watamu
and also the Turtle Hospital culminating in taking an adult turtle
back to the beach to be released. The children were so interested
and bursting with 'turtle facts' from their own research which they
had done in their Geography topic "Looking after the Environment".
They also had a swim and a beach picnic and were treated by Mrs.
Rosafio to two Italian ice creams on the journey. It was a brilliant
day! (Mrs. Dale). Attached to this newsletter is a report from Sean
McGovern (Y4) and some photographs.
The
Inter-House Rounders was played on Monday and the winner was Chui
followed by Kifaru and then Simba. In the Inter-House Cricket which
was played on Monday and Tuesday the winning house was Simba followed
by Kifaru and then Chui. I would like to thank Ms. Andrews and Mrs.
Jennings for organising the Rounders and Mr. Daniels, Mr. Dale and
Mr. Gitau for organising the Cricket.
The
House Points shield goes to Simba which kept a commanding lead all
term. Chui came second and Kifaru third.
I
would like to thank Mrs. Sassoon, Mrs. Jiwaji, Mrs. Miranda and
the girls of Year 6 for the beautiful decorations in the long during
the concert. I would also like to thank the children for their efforts
to learn words and for singing so nicely. Particular thanks must
go to Mr. Jeremiah Ndune for teaching the younger children all their
songs and for being with us on the night. Others to thank are Mr.
Gannon for his great introductions, all the teachers who came and
sat with their classes, Mr. Kuria and the kitchen for the beautifully
presented mince pies, the PTA for providing the bar and all the
parents for coming and bringing their children in time for a prompt
start.
Sports
Day was full of team spirit with some very exciting events. Everyone
deserved to win but it was actually won by Kifaru with Simba a close
second and then Chui. Big thanks must go to the Sports Department,
particularly Mrs. Jennings who did all the coordinating, and all
the teachers who worked hard on the day.
Father
Christmas popped in this morning to say "Hi" which was
very kind of him considering his busy schedule at this time of year.
He arrived yesterday night from the North Pole and Mrs. Sassoon
kindly put him up at her house.
LAMDA
classes will resume on Thursday 11th January. Mrs. Hughes wanted
to come this week to wish her students a happy Christmas but, because
of Sports Day this was not possible. I am, therefore, passing on
her good wishes.
We
say farewell to Sasha Darrell who left school in June after being
Head Girl. She then came back in September on attachment to the
Primary School where she has been helping out many of our teachers.
All the staff and children she has worked with would agree that
Sasha would make a great teacher herself. We will miss her and we
wish her every success in the future.
All
Primary children have been given their After School Activities forms
for next term. These should be completed and returned by Wednesday
10th January. Please consider the choices carefully as we are going
to be very strict about not changing. It can be an administrative
nightmare!
We
have come to the end of a long but eventful term and everyone is
ready for a holiday. We start again on Tuesday 9th January 2007
and I wish everyone the compliments of the season and a really good
rest.
Yours
sincerely
Allen
Corbet
Head of Primary
