School
Exams
Exam week is now over for most of the Primary School but Y6 still
have their SATs next week if the papers arrive from the UK in time.
If they are late, a circumstance well beyond our control, we will
have to push the exam week on until they come. Remember, Year 6,
READ THE QUESTIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!!!
SATs
Parents' Evening
Y2-6 parents will be invited to meet Class Teachers next Friday
(15th June) from 3.00 - 5.30 pm to see their children's SATs test
papers and discuss their levels of attainment. Parents should have
received a letter from their children's class teachers about this.
ABRSM Exams
I would like to wish all the candidates, parents, teachers and children,
who took the ABRSM practical examinations here today every success!
Having been through them myself, I know how nerve-racking they are
and those certificates are really hard earned! Good luck, everyone.
LAMDA

The LAMDA exams will take place at the school on Tuesday 26th June.

Dear
Parents and Guardians,
Our
year 7 students participated in a tree planting exercise on Tuesday
in Vikwatani in order to celebrate World Environment Day. Despite
managing to get very muddy and the long delay in returning to the
school after getting the bus stuck; a good time was had by all concerned.
Mr. Peter Barnard has been visiting the
school this week as part of a familiarisation exercise. I have included
below a short passage from Mr Barnard.
From
the Headteacher designate, Mr P M Barnard
Thank
you all for the warm welcome I received from students, staff and
parents on my visit to Braeburn International School, Mombasa.
I am looking forward immensely to joining you all again in August.
The school is a wonderful place for students to learn and grow and
for the teachers to demonstrate their effective teaching skills.
I have
no intention of altering the uniform in any way. All I ask of students
is that you wear the uniform with pride and always look your best
at school and outside. Remember you are all Braeburn Mombasa's ambassadors
in the streets of Mombasa.
Thank
you all again for the welcome. See you soon.
(Question:
For one soda to the student who gets it correct by September, guess
what the ' M' is in my name. It is an unusual!)
In
a recent year 8 French lesson we decided to have a French picnic.
The students had been learning the necessary vocabulary and sentences
for requesting food and drink, expressing preferences, offering
to others. Every student contributed their own food and drinks and
acted though where there were the inevitable lapses into English.
The students made a creditable effort to speak as much French as
possible. To their surprise and amusement special guests popped
in. I say a big "merci beaucoup" to Mr. Daniels, Mr. Farid,
Mr. Gannaway, Mr. Fred and Mrs. Jennings for their assistance.
One student, who will remain nameless, felt she had indulged a little
too much food. I understand that she managed to get through the
following PE lesson with no ill effects!
French
year 8, Mr Kirby
