BMIS Inter-School Hockey Tournament
This event was a great success and we have to thank Mrs. Jennings and Mr. Gitau for organising it. There were five participating schools: BMIS, Mombasa Academy. Shree, Aga Khan and Rusinga from Nairobi. The Girls' Shield went to BMIS and the Boys' Shield went to Mombasa Academy. Neither of the BMIS teams lost any games but the boys came 3rd after Rusinga on points. Thank you to all the parents who came and supported.

Hockey Fixtures
In the U11 boys' hockey match against Shree on Thursday 1st March, the score was1-1 and Bradley Lionnet was man of the match.

New U10 Boys' Hockey Fixture
There has been so much enthusiasm from our younger hockey players that Mr. Gitau is arranging an under 10 boys' hockey match against Aga Khan on Tuesday 20th March at home. This will start at 3.00 pm and will be an opportunity for our younger players to show what they can do. Parents will be receiving letters next week.

Athletics at Aga Khan
Tomorrow there is an athletics meet at Aga Khan (Likoni) in which some of our children are involved. This starts at 8.00 am and is estimated to finish at 1.00 pm. We wish all our young contenders success.

Exam Week
The Primary Exam week is over but children who were absent for exams will have to do them when they get back. The teachers will be busy with marking and reports.

The Primary School Production
This year we are doing the Rock Musical "RATS!" based on the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. It involves all the Key Stage 2 children from Y3-Y6. Now that exam week is over rehearsals will be stepped up. It is scheduled for Friday 23rd March at 6.00 pm. Our Early Years and Key Stage 1 children will not be left out as it will be their turn to do the production next term.

Inter-Class Tombola Race
The winning class will be announced in assembly this morning but I would like to thank everyone for their kind contributions as this is a very popular stall.

Fun Day
This starts at 3.00 pm this afternoon and finishes at 6.00 pm. As I mentioned in last week's newsletter, the buses will leave at 3.00 pm and there will be no late bus. Children should not attend Fun Day without their parents or guardians and should be taken home not later than 6.00 pm when the event closes.

Raffle
Tickets will be on Sale this afternoon and the draw will be made on the last day of term (Friday 30th March). Among the prizes will be: A Complimentary Dinner for 2 at a value of Ksh.3000 from the Aquamarine Restaurant, 4 vouchers @ Ksh.800 from Mombasa Go-Karts, an exclusive Coco Picture Frame, a voucher for a pizza and soda from Giardino Restaurant, a Glass Bottom Boat Trip for 2 from Scuba Safaris, Dinner for 2 with a bottle of House Wine at the Tamarind Restaurant and Dinner for 2 with a bottle of House Wine aboard the Tamarind Dhow. Prizes are still coming in and we are extremely grateful for the generosity of the donors.

Year 6 "Hat" Fashion Show
Year 6 has been designing beautiful hats during art lessons on Mondays. The children made the hats by themselves and on Monday they held a fashion show. Kylie McKenzie came first overall but Mrs. Veronique was very proud of all the end results and would like to thank Mrs. Jennings and Mrs. Sassoon for judging the show.

Year 6 Trip
Y6 went to Ngomongo Village to practice their Kiswahili and to see how things are done in Swahili culture on Tuesday. I would like to thank Ms. Chege for arranging it and Ms. Watsulu and Mr. Gannaway for assisting.

Class Assemblies
Many thanks to Y2 and Mrs. Miranda for their lovely assembly. Next week we look forward to seeing Y1 on the stage.

Have a good weekend.

Yours sincerely

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Results this week:-

Hockey
1 Open Boys 11-a-side beat Aga Khan 5 - 0, away
2 Open Boys 7-a-side beat Shree 4 - 2, away
3 Under 13 Girls lost 0 - 1 to Aga Khan, home
4 Under 16 Girls beat Aga Khan 2 -1, home
5 Under 12,10,8 athletics teams, Aga Khan 10th March

Despite this not being our athletics term, I am pleased to report that we obtained 2nd place overall from six teams. Outstanding performances were noted from Bradley Lionnet in both the high jump, ball throw and 100m sprint, Michelle Leichum in both 100m sprint and as the anchor in the relay team and Julia Soares for her running.

This weekend, sixteen of our students are off to Nairobi to participate in the Kenton sixes hockey tournament. They will be accompanied by three members of staff and a number of parents. This is the third year that we have been asked to attend this major event of the sporting calendar.

Last Friday our PTA held the Annual Fun Day. It was an enjoyable and successful night although I for one, ate far too much of the delicious international cuisine. A big thank you goes out to all who donated food, prizes for the tombola, ran stalls and in particular to the PTA and teachers for their organisation and Rosella Soares for the coordination of the event.

On Monday, our sixth form will start their AS and A Level mock examinations. Our IGCSE Art students will begin their final examination on Thursday 22nd March.
