SCHOOL
EARLY
YEARS UNIT NEWSLETTER - October (2) 2006
Dear
Parents,
Welcome
Back
The
children have come back to school rested and raring to go! We hope
you had an enjoyable half term break. A special welcome to children
who have just joined us here at EYU - Malaika (RB),
Mid
Term Planner
These are attached. Remember that the weekly planning, showing more
detail, is outside the classrooms for your perusal.
Parent
Help
Thank you to everyone who sent in some party food or drink to share
at the EYU Fancy Dress Party, it was all fantastic. A few mums came
into school to help out during the day too - Eliot's mum brought
in his baby sister to NY, Skye's mum, Sama's mum (both RJ) and Douglas's
mum (NR), a huge thank you to them. And this half term Suzi's mum
is coming to join RB every week to do fun and creative activities
- a thank you in advance.
If you have time or would like to come and visit your child in class,
then please let your class teacher know when, karibuni.
EYU
Sports Day
This takes place in week 12, on Monday 20th November, 10:30 am till
12:30. We will send you a separate invite nearer the time, and as
usual you are welcome to take your child home with you afterwards.
Maths
at Home
Please
find attached some information you may find useful if you wish to
support your child at home in maths/incorporate more maths in your
home. Let us know if you found it useful.
My
Maternity Leave
As
you know, I am expecting a baby in December and I shall probably
take my leave at the end of next month. Mrs. Mbabu will be teaching
RB, Mrs. Njuguna will be teaching special needs in EYU and
Miss Bradshaw (KS1 coordinator and Year 2 teacher) will be overseeing
the unit. I hope to be back in school at the end of Term 2/beginning
of Term 3. I would like to take this opportiunity to thank all of
you for your support, understanding and advice!
And
finally……..
………..The
partnership of families and carers plays a crucial role in tailoring
the curriculum to individual needs. There is a two-way flow of information:
what happens at school is reinforced and vice versa.
The
teachers and assistants here really appreciate and value what you
tell them, so keep talking to us!
Victoria
Speight,
RB
Teacher and EYU Coordinator
