EARLY
YEARS UNIT NEWSLETTER - October 2006
Dear
Parents,
Open
Morning
Thanks
for coming to visit us last Thursday. We hope you found it beneficial
and interesting to find out more about what goes on here.
Fancy
Dress Day
To celebrate the end of the first half of term, the children are
invited to come to school in fancy dress on Friday 13th October.
Fancy dress means any special clothes. Your child might want to
come dressed up as someone or something, or wear party clothes.
Please make sure that the clothes are strong and hard wearing though!
We
will start the day with a parade, then move on to party games and
finally share some party food. (Reception have Games before lunch
and they will still need to change into their Games kits. Reception
will eat the food in the afternoon.)
Please
could we ask that you send in some:
Fruit
Juice/Cut up fruit/sandwiches or something savoury/crisps or popcorn/
cakes or biscuits/cups and serviettes
You
are welcome to come and help us on that day - things get quite hectic
- just let your teacher know.
Bead
threading
Nikki from The Venerable Bead Shop, The Junction, is coming to school
on Wednesday 11th October to thread beads with the Reception children.
The children will practice counting and pattern making, as well
as having fun! If you would like to come and help us out, then please
let your teacher know. Nikki will be with RB from 8:30 till 10:00,
and RJ from 10:35 till 12:00.The focus of these first two weeks
in school has been to ensure a smooth entry into the EYU. The activities
the children have been doing are on display outside their classrooms
on notice boards.
Hot
Weather
As the hot weather comes, we are aware that some children are still
not coming to school with a sun hat. Please make sure your child
brings a hat, clearly labeled with their name, in their bags everyday.
You also might want to apply sunscreen to their faces before they
come to schoolParents are invited to join their children in the
EYU on Thursday 28th September, 10:30 - 12:30 for an open morning.
It will be an opportunity to observe you child in their classroom
and to meet other parents. There will be a short information sharing
session afterwards when we hope to tell you more about the curriculum
here at Braeburn.

and Eid are fast approaching. If you would like to come in after
half term and share how you and your family celebrate these special
