Hello
and welcome to Braeburn Kisumu International School.
Braeburn
Kisumu International School is day co-educational school situated less
than two kilometres from Kisumu City in the lush Milimani suburb. Braeburn
Kisumu is an international learning community providing a broad-based
and balanced curriculum in a safe and supportive environment, which encourages
all to achieve their full potential. The school operates within the framework
of the British National Curriculum, in line with other Braeburn schools.
The
Foundation Stage caters for children from play group to reception class
(2 to 5 years), where all aspects of learning are integrated. Key Stages
1 and 2 cater for children from ages 5 to 11 and we offer a full academic
programme in line with the curriculum. The Key Stage 3 programme has been
introduced one class at a time over the last three years and in September
2007 we will launch the Year 9 class (ages 14-15). Information and Communication
Technology is integrated into all aspects of learning, which takes place
in a warm supportive environment. With high expectations, students love
this environment and all strive to do their best.
Of
equal importance to us is developing the whole person and encouraging
students to discover and develop their talents. Consequently, we offer
a wide range of extra curricular activities including swimming, board
games, street hockey, badminton, Community Life activity skills, drama,
tennis and music. Private music lessons are also available for students
who want to further pursue their music talent.
Our
qualified staff and small class sizes ensure that each student's progress
is closely monitored. Students are assessed throughout the year in a variety
of ways. Formal assessment is carried out at the end of Year 2 which marks
the end of Key Stage 1, and in Year 6 at the end of Key Stage 2. Other
year groups also have standardized assessment at the end of each year
in English and Maths. Parents are kept informed of their children's progress
through parent-teacher conferences, termly reports and open days.
Our
school has an 'open door' policy to parents, who participate in reading,
helping in the library and accompanying students on field trips. Many
parents join their children for a picnic lunch at school. We feel the
parents' participation enhances children's learning.
Braeburn
Kisumu equips your child with the skills, attitude and quality of character
necessary to become productive members of society.
