SPECIAL EVENTS

Speech Day

Every year a special evening is set aside (usually in October) to honour pupils for various achievements. Parents and other important guests of the school are invited to witness the award of prizes to Braeside High School's best of the best. Pupils that have achieved highest merits, greatest effort, academic improvement and excellence reap the fruits of hard work in a colourful, and undoubtedly the best, event of the school calendar.

Open Day

Once a year (Third Term) parents, educationalists, the press and the general public are invited to come and watch the pupils at work. Pupils put up attractive educational displays, projects, experiments and innovations for our visitors. The climax of the event is the entertainment in the school hall and the Headteacher's speech.

Parents Evening

Towards the close of each term parents/guardians are invited to meet subject teachers and Form Tutors for discussion on the progress made by their child/children in the academic and social fields. The event runs from 4:00 - 6:00pm.

Careers Evening

An annual event that brings together professionals from different fields of life is organised by the Careers Co-ordinator. It is normally a joint event with our sister school Braeburn High School. Doctors, Nurses, Media Specialists, Dentists, Lawyers, Engineers, Designers, Businessmen/women, to mention a few spare an evening from their busy schedules to give you a greater insight into the world of opportunity. The event is restricted to pupils and their parents from Year (s) 9, 10 & 11 only.

Work Experience

Every pupil in Year 10 has the opportunity to spend up to two weeks out on work experience. The school, through the Senior Teacher, organises with employers in various fields to accept, train and utilise our Year 10 pupils in their organisations. Each pupil gains invaluable experience and reports from previous programmes have been commendable.

The School Musical

Every year the school puts up a musical at the Braeburn Theatre. In the past these have been enormously successful as a result of the dedication of both pupils and teachers in the cast and crew. Past productions include Smike and The African Jigsaw. Braeside boasts an ever-growing reservoir of talent in singing and acting. Why not give it a look next time we have a performance.
