At Braeburn Mombasa International School we aim to help children realise their full potential.  Our school is a community in which children, parents and teachers work together to provide a stimulating, happy and caring environment.  In order to achieve this:

·          We aim to provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum through the framework of the National Curriculum of England and Wales

·          In the Early Years Unit we concentrate on the children’s (1) Personal, social and emotional development, (2) Communication, language and literacy, (3) Mathematical development, (4) Knowledge and understanding of the world,  (5) Physical development, (6) Creative development

·          We expect children to take an active part in their learning; to ask questions, to be independent, organised and enthusiastic

·          We aim to provide a stimulating and attractive learning environment that assists, reflects and values the children’s work

·          We are sympathetic and understanding with regard to the needs of individual children socially, culturally and academically

·          We review our teaching and the children’s learning regularly to ensure that the highest standards are being met

·          We believe that continuing professional development is essential and will strive to enable our teachers to take advantage of what we are able to offer through inset and courses available from the UK

·          We like to involve parents in all aspects of school life and their children’s learning

·          We celebrate the cultural diversity of our children and their communities

·          We actively encourage children to be responsible and thoughtful in their behaviour inside and outside the classroom

·          We foster firm and consistent discipline

·          We value humour, sympathy, tolerance, independence, self-esteem and co-operation

·          We expect all children to take a pride in attending Braeburn Mombasa International School

·          We aim to equip children with the skills and attitudes necessary for a smooth transition to the next part of their school career

Our children’s progress will be greatly improved if teachers, parents and the school community share these aims and work together in achieving them.  Our partnership will ensure that our children thrive in response to our shared high expectations
