On behalf of the staff and students of Braeburn School, Nairobi, Kenya it is my pleasure to welcome you to our school. At Braeburn School, our children receive a broad, balanced and child-centred education. "Bringing out the best in our children", is our constant aim. This means developing and nurturing a successful blend of creativity, confidence and courtesy, which will equip our young people to cope with the demands of life in the 21st century, wherever in the world they may live. We encourage all our students to develop their individual talents to the full whilst at Braeburn and to aspire to excellence in all they undertake, whether it be in the classroom, on the sports field or in any magnitude of extra-curricular activities which we are able to offer here. We believe strongly in a holistic approach to learning where an emphasis is placed on providing a broad and balanced curriculum incorporating academics, sports, music, the arts and drama. We enjoy a multi-cultural and diverse community with over 70 nationalities represented in the 600+ strong student body. Over 60 graduate teachers deliver the curriculum which follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Braeburn's superb facilities were recently described by a visiting Headmaster from South Africa as "Second to none in Kenya". All classrooms have been newly refurbished and we boast "state of the art" Specialist Teaching rooms which include a science laboratory, computer suite, a purpose built creative arts block incorporating music, art and design technology and an audio-visual suite. The school is also justly proud of its well-stocked library and its two theatres. Braeburn possesses a thriving learning support department. Its team of well trained and experienced special needs teachers cater for the needs of children with moderate learning difficulties and for a large number of our children who have English as an additional language or indeed no English at all. However, a school is not about building and facilities. It is about people. Braeburn is staffed by a dedicated, hard working and professional body of teachers. Our parents are actively involved in the school and feel very much part of what goes on. Finally our students are a delight. Polite, enthusiastic, well mannered, independent and keen to learn they are an absolute credit to the school. But most important of all, they are happy, and happy children learn. Braeburn School is one of the largest IAPS (International Association of Preparatory Schools) schools in the world. Its international standards are of the highest order. Braeburn is a happy and fun place to be. Trust your children to this school and we will deliver happy and confident achievers in return.
