Q: What are the entry Requirements to be Accepted into the Bphil Programme?

Entry Requirements

1.The common regulations for all Undergraduate Degrees in the University apply.

2.The common regulations for all Undergraduate Degrees in the School of Education apply.

3.The following shall be eligible for admission into the B.Phil.(Ed) International Teacher Education programme: persons who are

·Either holders of a Bachelor degree from any recognised university.

·Or holders of a Grade C+ KCSE and a higher diploma in the relevant subject area and relevant teaching experience.

Duration and pattern of the Course

1.The Bachelor of Philosophy (Education) programme shall extend over a period of two academic years.

2.Students on this programme will do their B.Phil.(Ed.) by course work, dissertation (project) and examination.

3.Students will take a total of 26 units: 17 core teaching units, 3 elective teaching units, 4 units of mentored teaching practicum, and two units of dissertation/research project.

Examination

1.Regulations in the School of Education shall apply.

2.University examinations shall be given at the end of each trimester and shall contribute 50% of the total marks; continuous assessment shall contribute the other 50%.

3.The Research project /dissertation shall be examined at the end of the second academic year.
